Northern Macedonia seems to rule out the possibility of sending the country’s soldiers to Ukraine. The government of the country, following the change of leadership in the US, is alleged to be aligning and increasingly supporting Washington’s choices over the war in Ukraine and not those of the majority of EU member states. “In the current situation we believe that there should be no soldiers in our country. What is more important and of particular importance to Ukrainian citizens is to create a peaceful situation first, that is, to have a mutual solution that will guarantee long -term peace, and in the meantime to discuss the details of further assistance, “the North Macedonian Ministry said. Northern Macedonia joined NATO in March 2020 and maintains particularly close political and economic relations with the Hungarian government and its prime minister, Viktor Orban.
