Opposition parties have recently filed a motion of censure in parliament against the government of Zoran Zaef.
Yesterday, the leader of the largest opposition party, VMRO-DPMNE, Christian Mickoski, had given Zaef a “deadline” to resign by this afternoon, something that did not happen.
VMRO-DPMNE MP Aleksandar Nikolovski, presenting the motion of censure against the government, said that it is supported by 61 deputies, out of 120 who number the entire Parliament.
The motion of censure, according to Nikolovski, was supported by the coalition under VMRO-DPMNE (44 deputies), the Albanian parties “Alliance for Albanians-Alternative” (12 deputies) and “BESA” (3 deputies) and the party “Levica” (Left – 2 deputies).
Earlier in the day, however, Alliance for Albanians-Alternative MP Skender Rexhepi said he could not agree with an initiative backed by the nationalist Levica party, which has a strong anti-Albanian profile.
Asked about this, Aleksandar Nikolovsky expressed confidence that Skender Rexhepi would vote in favor of the motion of censure.
Following the submission of the motion of censure, the Speaker of Parliament is expected to schedule a meeting of the House to consider the motion. The debate in Parliament on the motion of censure lasts three days.
A motion of censure must be approved by at least 61 Members.
Nikolovski said that VMRO-DPMNE expects that the vote in Parliament on the motion of censure will take place on Thursday, November 11.
