The leader of VMRO-DPMNE, the largest opposition party Northern Macedonia, Christian Mickoski, after the victory of his party in the recent municipal elections in the country, again called for the early parliamentary elections.
At a press conference in Skopje earlier Wednesday, he claimed that early parliamentary elections would be held. as soon as possible is necessary in order, as he said, to form a stable government, capable of meeting the challenges facing the country.
According to the APE MPE, the leader of VMRO-DPMNE claimed that his party prevailed over the ruling Social Democratic Party (SDSM) in the municipal elections with 110.000 votes difference.
And “this fact,” he noted, “is one clear message to all of us, throughout society, for the new reality that is taking shape in the country. “And this reality says that the government no longer has legitimacy and its policies are not credible to the world.”
What the government says
Just yesterday, the government of the resigned prime minister of the country Zoran Zaef stated that the parties that make up the current governing coalition reaffirmed their support for the government and against of early parliamentary elections.
“The ruling coalition parties jointly confirm that Northern Macedonia and its citizens do not need early parliamentary elections, as such elections would simply lead the country to a political, economic, social and security crisis, and would also act as brake in the process of European integration of Northern Macedonia “, it is mentioned in a relevant announcement of the government.
It is pointed out that Zoran Zaef, after the defeat of his party in the municipal elections, stated last Sunday night that he is taking over responsibility for this defeat and resigns as prime minister of the country and leader of the Social Democratic Party.
However, Zaef, in his resignation statement, noted that the current government has another 2.5 years to complete her term and must continue her work.
So far, Zoran Zaef has not submitted in writing his resignation to the Speaker of Parliament, in order to begin the procedures for the formation of a new government with another prime minister.
According to Skopje media reports, Zaef is expected to submit his resignation to Parliament Speaker on coming days.
Mickoski on the Prespa Agreement
The leader of VMRO-DPMNE, in the same press conference today, referring to Prespa Agreement stated that this is a reality, but which he does not like and he would like to change it if he comes to power, but also that if she is not respected there will be problems:
“Do we like this reality? No we do not like it, I tell you we do not like it. But if this reality is not respected in the context of the administrative function of the state institutions, then we will have a problem with other cases – with the prosecutor’s office, justice, etc. If you ask me if we will work for this reality, one day we will have the opportunity to change it, I tell you yes we will work to change it.
But at this stage this is the reality in which we all operate as citizens of Macedonia and this reality is so painful, humiliating for all of us who feel Macedonia and only Macedonia as a homeland us“Mickoski said, when asked if VMRO-DPMNE will respect the Prespa Agreement in case it comes to power.
