The new governing coalition takes office a few hours after one new tragedy: On Wednesday afternoon (13/10) a man with a bow and arrow killed five people in Kongsberg, a town in southeastern Norway, and injured two others. According to the police, the perpetrator, who has been arrested, is a 37-year-old Dane who has converted to Islam and is believed to have become radicalized.
According to APE-MPE, out of the 19 ministries, 10 have been taken over by women, among them the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Energy and Justice. This is not the first time that 53% of ministerial posts have been awarded to women in Norway. This happened, for a short time, twice during the prime ministership of Jens Stoltenberg, from 2005 to 2013.
Another peculiarity of the government is that two of its survivors participate in it massacre in Utoya. On July 22, 2011 the far-right extremist Anders Behring Breivik opened fire on a Labor youth camp, killing 69 people.
They are Tonie Brena, 33, who took over the Ministry of Social Education, and 35-year-old Jan Christian Vestre, who takes over the portfolio of Trade and Industry.
The Labor Party, which won the September 13 parliamentary elections, formed a minority government with the Center Party.
