At least four people were injured today, one of them seriously, in a “blind” knife attack in Numendal, in southeastern Norway, Norwegian police said, noting that the suspect had been “brought under control”.
“I can confirm that we have brought the suspect under control” for the attack, a police spokesman told Reuters.
Earlier, local police announced in a Twitter message that a suspect had been arrested, without specifying the motives of the attack, while in a previous message on the same social media, he described the condition of one of the injured as critical.
According to eyewitnesses quoted by Norwegian media, several police patrols and ambulances, as well as three helicopters with medical equipment, had rushed to the scene.
The bomber struck shortly after noon in the village of Noremdal, in the village of Nore, according to Norwegian media, citing AFP.
This area is located in the northern part of Kongsberg, a city in which 5 people had lost their lives in October from an attack with a bow and knife.
