The Norwegian Navy plans to order a fleet of British frigates to boost the country’s naval defense, the Norwegian government said today. Germany, France, Britain and the US had submitted opposing proposals for the design of frigates, as part of the largest, as expected, a military supply to date of Norway, a NATO member state. The government’s decision means that Norway will now begin the final negotiations to conclude a contract, making the supplier choice. “Frigates are a necessary part of our defense because they play a central role in defending our sovereignty,” Prime Minister Yuas Gar Store said during a press conference.
