Norway’s trade surplus hit a new record high in March, mainly due to rising gas export prices, which reached record levels after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, according to statistics.
The March trade surplus stood at 138.4 billion kroner ($ 15.65 billion), up from a previous record of $ 106 billion.
With a daily output of about 4 million barrels of oil, almost evenly distributed between gas and oil, Norway has benefited from the sharp rise in energy prices worldwide.
The country’s exports stood at 226.3 billion kroner in March, half of which came from gas and 23% from oil, according to data.
