Despite the many stereotypes about Chinese cars, they are in steady demand among Russians. This is evidenced by a new report of the analytical agency “Avtostat-Info”.

Analysts estimate that a total of 7,768 Chinese used vehicles were sold in Russia in March. For comparison, a year ago their sales were 7,723 units. Chery Tiggo became the most popular Chinese model in the Russian secondary market. At the end of last month, sales of this crossover originally from China on the secondary market amounted to 754 units against 1,031 in March 2021.

Second place went to Lifan Solano. Resale sales of this low-cost sedan fell 27.3% year-over-year to 530 units. The third most popular Chinese used car is the Great Wall Hover. It was bought 526 times in March. Lifan X60 and Geely Emgrand close the top five with sales in the secondary at the level of 522 and 399 units, respectively.

Speaking not about specific models, but about Chinese auto brands in general, Russians most often preferred used cars from Chery. Their combined sales in March were 2,324 units, up 6% year-on-year. Chery is followed by Lifan. Sales of used cars of this Chinese brand for the year decreased by 20.6% to 1,662 units. “Bronze” went to Geely cars. During the first spring month, 1,569 cars of this brand changed their owners. This is 20% more than last March.

Demand for Great Wall cars in the secondary market during the same time fell by 34%. But the resale of Haval for 12 months increased several times – by 251%. True, in quantitative terms, sales still leave much to be desired. Last month, only 555 used Haval cars were sold in Russia.
