Not only girls in bikinis: you definitely paused these moments

The conservative film industry still insists that films should only be shown in theaters and nowhere else. However, as often happens, there is such a moment in the film that you want to pause and take a closer look. It’s good that people once invented cassettes, CDs and DVDs, and now you can run any movie on your computer via the Internet. This article contains fifteen of the most interesting moments in the history of cinema, in which almost every viewer paused the playback.

Deadpool 2 (2018)

Let’s start with the most interesting and unusual. Deadpool 2 has a ton of easter eggs for comic book lovers. However, the greatest interest among the audience during the film is the fact that the Invisible Man, who is literally invisible, according to the creators, is played by Brad Pitt. And at some point there is a scene where superheroes are skydiving. A strong wind blows the Invisible Man so that he lands on a power line. He is electrocuted and for a moment the hero’s face is shown on the screen. A lot of people paused here to make sure it was Pitt.

“Matrix” (1999)

The first Matrix is often cited as one of the best films of all time. How many minds he then excited with his ideas. However, the film was also good technically. If anyone does not know, it was difficult to shoot scenes with mirrors, especially in those years. The Wachowskis wanted to shoot a reflection in a doorknob, and the usual methods of working with mirrors did not work here. Then they decided to disguise the camera so that it looked like Morpheus. Every fan who found out about this fact pressed pause to try to figure out where the actor ends and the “dressed up” camera begins.

“Tron” (1982)

The sci-fi classic Tron was full of Easter eggs before it was trendy. In one of the scenes, viewers may have noticed that a Pac-Man game is visible on the screen. I had to pause to make sure that this was not an optical illusion and the authors really added it to the film. In addition, if the tape playback is stopped in time during the scene with the stolen solar sailboat, you can see the silhouette of Mickey Mouse.

“Men in Black” (1997)

“Men in Black” is a wonderful comedy fantasy, which is rightfully included in hundreds of lists of the best works of a particular genre, direction, time period, and so on. In one of the scenes, the character of Will Smith makes a tour of the headquarters of the bureau for cooperation with aliens. There, on a holographic screen, the places of stay of registered aliens on Earth are marked. If you pause, then among them you can recognize many American celebrities, for example, actor Sylvester Stallone.

“Interstellar” (2011)

Interstellar is considered one of the most scientifically accurate science fiction films. It was created in collaboration with astrophysicist Kip Thorne and has been touted by science popularizers such as Neil deGrasse Tyson and Michio Kaku. Therefore, when frames with a board covered with formulas are shown over and over again in it, the audience is drawn to pause to check if anything has changed from scene to scene, or maybe even write down a couple of equations to try to figure out whether they have These equations have something in common with reality.

Thor: The Dark World (2013)

Interestingly, a similar scene was added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When Eric Selvig, Ph.D. in astrophysics, enters a mental hospital, he begins to write equations on the wall. If you pause the movie, you can see that many of the formulas are real astronomical and mathematical equations. Even more interesting is that here you can find an Easter egg about Nidavelir – a place that will be revealed to the audience already in Avengers: Infinity War.

“Iron Man” (2008)

In general, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is very rich in Easter eggs, references and incredible cameos. With each film, there are many times more of them, but even in the very first, “Iron Man”, there were some interesting moments. One such was the appearance of Captain America’s shield in Tony Stark’s workshop. During the first viewing, many missed it, and therefore the second time they tried to pause this moment.

“Iron Man 2” (2010)

Post-credits scenes have become a hallmark of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the most interesting of these scenes was created at the very beginning of the development of the franchise – in Iron Man 2. When Nick Fury meets Tony Stark, viewers can press pause to view a detailed map of superhero activity. Stark already then knew about the existence of Wakanda, as well as the alleged location of Atlantis, which has not yet been introduced into the plot.

“Easy Times at Ridgemont” (1982)

This tape contains perhaps the most iconic bikini scene at least among American films. The exit of Phoebe Cates from the pool, when she begins to unbutton her bikini under the splashes of water, excited the entire male part of the cinema halls. And this was long before the appearance of Baywatch (perhaps it was this scene that prompted Burke and Bonann to create the legendary series with Pamela Anderson?). When the opportunity arose, this moment began to be paused.

“Total Recall” (1990)

In general, beautiful women are a trouble-free way to rive the attention of men to the screens. And this concept was most sinned by the militants of the 90s. For example, in Paul Verhoeven’s sci-fi film Total Recall, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character ends up on Mars. What he just didn’t see there: robots, 3D masks and, of course, three-breasted women. Which of these shots people stopped most often is easy to guess.

“Basic Instinct” (1992)

In 1992, Paul Verhoeven went even further. He shot one of the most provocative and scandalous scenes not only of those years, but of the entire history of cinema. During the interrogation, the heroine Sharon Stone behaves incredibly seductively with the detectives. She sits on a chair with one leg crossed over the other. And then with wide movements swaps them. This moment was paused very often.

“The Wolf of Wall Street” (2013)

The scene from Basic Instinct became so iconic that one day, namely in 2013, Martin Scorsese decided to do something similar. When the characters of Margot Robbie and Leonardo DiCaprio are in the children’s room, a woman decides to seduce her husband with spicy parts of her body. Almost all of these things, of course, remain behind the scenes, but the audience still managed to pause something.

“Titanic” (1997)

Returning to the 90s, one cannot fail to mention the most erotic scene from the legendary Titanic, when a young Kate Winslet undresses so that DiCaprio’s character can draw her. And again, Leo saw much more than was eventually shown to the audience. But these shots remained on pause for a long time for the owners of the cassette or disc with the film.

“The Seven Year Itch” (1955)

And if someone has a desire to complain about modern mores and promiscuity in the cinema, then it is worth remembering the classic scene from the 1955 film The Seven Year Itch with Marilyn Monroe. The actress played a “classic blonde” in the film, popularizing this image. The scene where Monroe walks through an air vent and her skirt is pulled up has been paused so often that the image has become iconic in its own right and entered pop culture.
