As it often happens, after the Apple presentation, something interesting about this or that new product is found on the company’s website. So, regarding the new Mac Studio, there was such a detail.

As it turned out, the modification with the new SoC M1 Ultra is almost one and a half times heavier than the version with the M1 Max. To be more precise, the first weighs 3.6 kg, and the mass of the second is 2.7 kg. At the same time, the dimensions are completely identical.

Of course, the difference in mass is not explained by the mass of single-chip systems. The fact is that the M1 Ultra is actually two combined M1 Max. Accordingly, the power consumption of the new SoC is about twice as high, and this required a different cooling system.
The older version of the Mac Studio has a larger heatsink and is made of copper, while the younger version has a smaller one and is made of aluminum. Hence the difference of more than 33%.
At the same time, the power supplies for all PCs are the same – a power of 370 watts. By the way, this allows you to understand the approximate power of the newest Apple platform. Of course, it is below 370W, since other PC components also require energy, but it is definitely not more than 370W.
