Now officially: Audi has announced the release date of the last car with internal combustion engines

Last week, the media reported that the latest Audi model with an internal combustion engine could hit the market as early as 2026. And now Audi has officially announced the timing of the final transition to electric vehicles.

At the Climate Neutrality Foundation conference, Audi CEO Markus Duesmann announced that the brand’s latest new ICE model will be unveiled four years from now, in 2025. And from 2026, all new Audi models will be fully electric. But this does not mean at all that from this date Audi will stop producing cars with gasoline and diesel engines. Their production will continue until 2023, but the assortment and production volumes will be reduced. Audi emphasizes that everything will depend on the specific market and the demand for it.

Recall that Audi officially stopped developing new internal combustion engines this spring. But the company will continue to update and refine the gasoline and diesel engines already in the lineup.

There are now only three all-electric cars in the Audi lineup. These are the e-tron GT sedan and the e-tron and Q4 e-tron crossovers. But in the future, all models of the German auto giant, including the iconic Audi A6 sedan, will switch to electric motors.
