Now Tesla machines are also built on AMD components. Tesla’s new computer disassembled, revealing an old CPU and a modern GPU

As you know, Tesla equips some new cars with new computers that can, among other things, cope with modern games. One such computer was removed from the car for evaluation.

It turned out to be built on AMD components. To clarify, we are talking about a computer for the car’s infotainment system, and not for implementing driver assistance functions.

So, the heart of the solution is a kind of embedded Ryzen Embedded CPU with the article number YE180FC3T4MFG based on the Zen + architecture, that is, this is a rather old solution for the computer market. It is impossible to find out the characteristics by the article number, since it does not correspond to the usual AMD names. But the source says it’s a quad-core CPU with a 45W TDP and 4MB of L3 cache.

The computer also contains a discrete graphics card based on GPU Navi 23. Presumably, it has 28 CUs active, that is, 1792 stream processors. The clock speed appears to be as high as 2.8 GHz, as Tesla previously talked about 10 TFLOPS of performance.
