The wait is over: the new album by Nuclear Tactical Penguins is out on December 2 and is called Fake News. The project, anticipated by the singles Giovani wannabe and Ricordi, includes 14 tracks in which the group of six from Bergamo (Riccardo Zanotti, Elio Biffi, Nicola Buttafuoco, Matteo Locati, Simone Pagani and Lorenzo Pasini) tries to repeat the success of the EP OUCH!, which went four times platinum.
To present the disk they plan a ten stadium tour in 2023 (the stages at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome and Stadio San Siro in Milan are already sold out) as well as the in-store meetings in the main cities (Rome, Turin, Bergamo and Bologna) and furthermore – from 2 to 4 December – it is possible to visit the exhibition created with Spotify at Ride Milano that tells each song in a different room.
The album boasts four different covers, each with a fake news about the band written especially for the occasion by as many journalists. In fact, only a few months ago the (false) rumor of a possible dissolution of the group has circulated, the perfect starting point to tell the relationship between truth and invention through the songs on the album, as the frontman comments to the Ansa news agency: «Even before that news about us came out, we were talking about how much fake news can contaminate the debate audience, on any topic, from migrants to the pandemic. When one hit us, we realized even more how much false news, even if basically harmless like that, could have a strong impact even on a personal level”.
And he continues: «Especially after the covid we realized how much we take many things for granted in our lives. Maturity is perhaps that of understanding that we cannot go on alone. We feel more than ever citizens of the world and cosmopolitans (they won the MTV Europe Award for Best Italian act, ed.), after two years forced to stay at home».
In the near future of the band, however, there is no San Remo Festival. Or at least so they tell the newspaper, unless of course this is also artfully constructed fake news.
