Nursing home fire in Spain: Five dead and 11 elderly in hospital

At least five people were killed in the blast Spain when it broke out fire in nursing home during the night, as announced by an emergency center.

The fire broke out around midnight at the unit, which also provided medical care to elderly guests, in the community of Moncada, near Valencia, according to the APE-MPE. It took the fire department about two hours to bring it under control. He had to rescue 25 people, while evacuating a total of 70. The two-storey nursing home had a nominal capacity of 100 seats.

Of the 11 people who were poisoned, all three are in “serious” condition and eight are “lighter,” according to the emergency services. They were treated in various hospitals in the area.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Spanish fire department and the police. “The first evidence, according to what was conveyed to me, points in two possible directions: that there was short circuit due to oxygen cylinder or to have existed negligence by a guest who was smoking“, Said Martin Pereth Arada, municipal councilor and firefighter, on 24H TV.

According to him, some guests in the nursing home who lived in his burned area were transferred to intact rooms in view of their transfer to other nursing homes in the area during the day.
