Nvidia buys software-defined storage company Excelero

Nvidia posted on its website that Excelero, a Tel Aviv-based provider of high-performance software-defined storage, is “now part of Nvidia.”

“The Excelero team is joining Nvidia as demand for HPC and AI grows,” said Yaniv Romem, CEO and co-founder of Excelero. “We will be working with Nvidia to support our existing customers, and going forward, we are thrilled to bring our block storage expertise to Nvidia’s world-class AI and HPC platforms.”

Nvidia buys software-defined storage company Excelero

Founded in 2014, Excelero developed NVMesh, a software for running NVMe flash virtual arrays as block storage available in public and private clouds.

The company’s experts, including its co-founders with years of experience in high performance computing, storage and networking, have deep knowledge of block storage, which large enterprises use in storage networks. The task of these specialists will now be to expand support for block storage in the Nvidia enterprise software stack, including clusters for supercomputers.

We can say that Excelero has been associated with Nvidia since the early days of its existence, since its investor was Mellanox, now also bought by Nvidia.

Nvidia also said in a statement that support for Excelero customers will continue in accordance with existing contracts.
