Jensen Huang, Taiwanese-American billionaire co-founder and CEO of Nvidia, is named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People annually.
Huang, who holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University, is considered one of the most tech-savvy executives, according to Andrew Ng, founder of DeepLearning.AI, who wrote an article about him for Time.
The decision to focus on GPUs proved to be forward-thinking, with the company earning billions of dollars every year making products for gamers and datacenters. The importance of GPUs increased when they were found to be well suited not only for simulating in games, but also for speeding up scientific calculations and artificial intelligence algorithms. While the source does not mention another use case for GPUs, everyone knows what role they play in mining cryptocurrencies.
In addition to Huang, the 2021 edition of Time’s list also includes Apple and Tesla CEOs Tim Cook and Elon Musk.
