Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000 graphics cards are being delayed. And the deficit is also to blame for this.

Due to the current shortage of video cards on the market, not only manufacturers of finished devices are forced to adjust their plans, but also GPU developers – AMD and Nvidia. If you compare the current year with the past, it is easy to see that both companies have slowed down with the release of new models. For example, the same GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, according to rumors, was supposed to be released at the end of last year, and will be released only in May. Moreover, in May there will be an official announcement, but when it can actually be bought is a big question. Due to the fact that the release dates for new video cards are being extended, it makes no sense to rush to prepare new generation models.

According to a source usually knowledgeable about the plans of GPU manufacturers, Nvidia has decided to extend the life cycle of video cards of the current Ampere line at least until the end of next year. This means that the GeForce RTX 4000 (Ada Lovelace), if they appear on sale, will only be in 2023.

However, in addition to the deficit, there is another limiting factor – production capacity. Ada Lovelace is expected to be manufactured using the 5nm process technology, but for this year, all production lines allowing products to be produced using this technology are already loaded. Only by the second half of the year, AMD 5nm CPUs based on Zen 4 architecture will be launched, and only by then will TSMC and Samsung have the capacity for large-scale production of both these processors and the latest Ada Lovelace GPUs.
