Nvidia has released the highly anticipated Android TV 11 software update for all Shield TVs.

Yes, that’s right, we are talking about all variations of Shield TV. Including the very first Shield TV, released in 2015 and based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. Just for comparison, this was the era of the flagship Samsung Galaxy S6, which never got Android newer than Android 7.0 Nougat.
In August 2021, Nvidia announced that the Shield TV will not receive Android TV 10. As it turns out, the company is focusing instead on preparing to launch Android TV 11 right away.
The update is available under the name Shield Experience 9.0.0. The update includes everything on offer in Android TV 11, Nvidia said, including an updated Gboard keyboard with Google Assitant voice search, one-time permissions on both phones and tablets, and support for the aptX codec with wireless headphones.
As a standalone update, GeForce Now users will get new features on Shield TV. Set-top boxes now support 4K HDR for subscribers of the most expensive GeForce Now RTX 3080 plan at $ 100 for six months. Also, all GeForce Now users will get improved Twitch integration – simultaneous play and high quality streaming are supported.
