NVIDIA is preparing a revolution: in benchmarks RTX 4090 is twice as powerful as RTX 3090

The closer to the official announcement of the new generation of NVIDIA video cards, the more information from insiders appears on the network. And although many secret data providers initially believed that the “green team” would not make a noticeable jump in performance compared to the RTX 30, in reality it turned out that the increase in power for the new video cards would be really impressive. For example, the well-known insider Kopite7kimi stated on his social networks that he had the results of synthetic tests of the RTX 4090 video card on hand – it scored 19 thousand points in the 3DMark Time Spy Extreme graphics test, which is certainly very impressive.

But for many users, this figure in the benchmark does not say anything – especially for this, the insider compared the performance in synthetic tests of the RTX 4090, RTX 3090 Ti and RTX 3090 video cards. It turned out that the original flagship of the RTX 40 line is 66% more powerful than the RTX 3090 Ti video card. It is worth recalling that the RTX 3090 Ti video card was considered even too productive for gamers, so only enthusiasts bought it (except for miners). Moreover, a direct comparison of the RTX 4090 and RTX 3090 models gives an even more impressive difference – the new product has collected 82% more powerful, that is, almost twice.

This increase in performance in synthetics is explained very simply – the RTX 4090, according to insider information, will have 16384 CUDA cores, which is 52% more than the RTX 3090 Ti. In addition, NVIDIA engineers are likely to raise the base clock speed of the new generation GPU, which together leads to a corresponding increase in performance in benchmarks. On the other hand, a potential buyer will have to pay for more power with power consumption – there is evidence that the RTX 4090 will consume 800 watts of power at peak loads, which is an insane amount.

At the same time, the results of synthetic tests do not at all indicate the real performance of the video card – so far there are no real tests in video games or other scenarios for which the new generation is being prepared. It is possible that in games the performance gain will be much less, and then the impressive power consumption for many will become an insurmountable barrier to purchase. The only good news is that due to the collapse of mining, users will at least have the opportunity to buy a new generation of video cards at reasonable prices.
