USD struggles to preserve bullish momentum
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told Bloomberg News over the weekend that a rise in inflation and interest rates would be a sign of positive development for the US economy. These comments helped the USD gain traction against its rivals at the beginning of the week and the US Dollar Index (DXY) hit a daily high of 90.30 before losing its traction. At the moment, the DXY is posting small daily losses at 90.08, allowing the NZD / USD to remain in positive territory.
Hours earlier, data from China showed May exports rose less than expected and the trade surplus expanded to $ 45.53 billion, disappointing market expectations of $ 50.5 billion. However, this report had little or no impact on the kiwi market valuation.
