“O Menino da Porteira” and more: remember films and series from the country world

That the gender countryside has been the most listened to in the country, it's nothing new. Last year, for example, music streaming retrospectives revealed that “Meu Quadro”, by Ana Castela, was the most listened to song of 2023. However, another aspect of country music also accumulates fans: movies and series .

With the constant maintenance of the genre since its origins, a demand for productions based on artists' bibliographies emerged and streaming companies began to invest in series and documentaries to reach the public.

In addition to the stories of overcoming, for example, of the duo Zezé Di Camargo and Luciano in the film “2 Children of Francisco “, subgenres of country music such as feminejo also began to be addressed. One example is the series “Rensga Hits!”, from Globoplay, starring actress Alice Wegmann. In the plot, the main character, Raíssa Medeiros, is inspired by Marília Mendonça, a singer who revolutionized the rhythm and died in a plane crash in 2021.

Another recent production that addresses one of the most renowned country duos in country music is “The Adventures of José & Durval “. In addition to having one of the songs as inspiration for the film “No Rancho Fundo”, from 1971, Chitãozinho and Xororó had the story told in series format, produced by Globoplay, and starring the brothers Rodrigo Simas and Felipe Simas.

Another classic film from the country universe, “O Menino da Porteira”, recorded two versions with an interval of three decades. Initially starring Sérgio Reis, in 1976, singer Daniel starred in the reinterpretation of the main character, in 2009.
