OAED: The ‘social package’ for employment in Western Macedonia-Peloponnese is on track

The “social package” of OAED, amounting to a total of 107 million euros, to support employment in the Regions of Western Macedonia and the Peloponnese and their fair and smooth transition to the post-colonial era is entering the implementation path.

The start is made with two programs, with a total budget of 62 million euros, through which 5,400 new jobs will be created, which “open” in the coming days, as announced by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

In particular, on Friday, November 19, at 13:00, the electronic applications for the new job subsidy program for the recruitment of 3,400 unemployed, former employees in companies of the Regions of Western Macedonia and Peloponnese that were affected by the effects of de-ligation begin. On Monday, November 22, at 13:00, the electronic applications for the new program for gaining professional experience of 2,000 unemployed 18-29 year olds in the Region of Western Macedonia (1,450 positions) and in the Municipalities of Megalopolis, Tripoli, Gortynia, Sparta, Oichalia and Kalamata begin. Peloponnese (550 places).

The social package is part of the broader planning of de-lignification, which is a top priority of the government. It is one of the main tools for the next two years, in the context of ensuring that there is no gap in employment until the full activation of all programs and actions of the Fair Transition Mechanism that will mobilize funds over 5 billion. euro to create a new productive and development model for lignite areas.

The identity of the two programs

1.Employment program for 3,400 unemployed, former employees in companies of the Regions of Western Macedonia and Peloponnese who were affected by the effects of de-ligation

It is addressed to companies operating in the Region of Western Macedonia and in the Municipalities of Megalopolis, Tripoli, Gortynia, Sparta, Oichalia and Kalamata that have not reduced their staff during the quarter before their application.

The duration of the program is 12-18 months. The percentage of salary subsidy and insurance contributions ranges between 75-100%, while the monthly subsidy amount ranges between 700 – 933 euros, depending on the category of unemployed and the sector of the company that worked.

Companies interested in participating in the program will submit their application exclusively electronically through the State Aid Information System (PSE) of the Ministry of Development & Investment at http://www.ependyseis.gr/mis. Then, the labor consultants of OAED will nominate candidates to the company, according to the specialty and the required qualifications and the company will choose among the candidates for the recruitment. The total budget of the program is 48 million euros.

2. Program for gaining professional experience of 2,000 young unemployed

It is addressed to private sector companies, to companies, bodies and public organizations that regularly carry out economic activity, as well as to first and second degree local government companies that regularly carry out economic activity in the above areas. The duration of the program is 7 months and the participants will be paid by OAED a monthly compensation equal to the legal minimum wage, as well as a ratio of holiday gifts and leave allowance. The total budget is 14 million euros.

Employers who are interested in participating will submit to the Integrated Information System (IIS) of OAED (e-services) a single electronic application, which is posted on the website of the Organization (www.oaed.gr). Then, the labor consultants of OAED will nominate candidates to the company, according to the specialty and the required qualifications and the company will choose among the candidates for the recruitment.
