OASA: Collections up 83% and endorsements up 58% in the first half

An 83% increase in receipts and 58% in endorsements in the first half of 2022 compared to last year’s period was achieved by the OASA group in the first half of the year.

According to an announcement by the Athens Urban Transport Organization, the data for the first half of 2022 show, in general, that each month is getting closer to “normal” levels before the pandemic (receipts and validations of the year 2019). “It is indicative that both the collections and the validations of the first quarter of the year amounted to 63% of the first quarter of 2019” the announcement states.

The increase in tourism also contributed positively, as at the start of the summer, in June, validations reached 71% and collections reached 75% of June 2019. A large increase is noted in the movements to and from Athens airport, as in June there was 131% increase in endorsements and 137% in receipts compared to June 2021. Correspondingly, July 2022 shows a 52% increase in endorsements and a 54% increase in receipts from travel products used compared to July 2021 (the percentages increase in July are smaller than the corresponding ones in June, due to the fact that in July 2021 tourist traffic had increased significantly).

Online sales are expanding

In addition to the rise in endorsements and collections, there is a large increase in the market for online mobility products. In the two years 2021-2022, the number of users has seen a leap forward compared to previous years, which is also reflected in the receipts from online purchases.

In particular, the internet shows in the first half of 2022 the biggest increase in receipts compared to the corresponding half of 2021, with an increase of 238%, while in absolute terms it approaches the sales in periods of “normality” (year 2019) more than all other channels sale.

“Urban transportation in Athens is the most economical, safe and reliable means of transportation. The maintenance of the ticket price at the same levels, despite the increase in fuel prices due to the global energy crisis, as well as the continuous improvement interventions in the transportation network, make “Mass of Mass Transport is once again the main choice of the passenger public for movements within the urban fabric” points out the relevant announcement of the OASA.
