Oasis could compete with Sabrina Carpenter for top spot in charts

The band Oasis may be about to face a battle against the pop star Sabrina Carpenter 25, on the UK charts. The iconic British band’s songs are quickly rising in the Official UK Singles Chart just a few days after the brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher announce their return to the stage.

“Live Forever,” which peaked at No. 10 in 1994, is now on track to reach No. 4, according to the Official Charts Company. In addition, “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back In Anger” are also set to return to the Top 10.

Last Friday (30), Sabrina reached first place with her latest hit, “Taste “, from the album “Short N’ Sweet “, while the tracks “Please Please Please” and “Espresso” occupy the next two positions.

As for Oasis albums, the compilation “Time Flies 1994-2009” is in third place, “[What’s the Story] Morning Glory?” from 1995 is close behind, and the recently released 30th anniversary edition of debut album “Definitely Maybe” cracked the Top 5.

Last Saturday (31), fans tried to secure tickets for the “Oasis Live ’25” tour, but many ended up stuck in long lines before being informed that all dates were sold out.

Unauthorised resale sites have listed tickets for exorbitant prices (as much as £8,000), while Ticketmaster has been criticised for using a controversial “dynamic pricing” system, which has seen prices for standard tickets rise substantially.

As a result, the UK Culture Secretary has promised to investigate the issue as part of the government’s policy on ticket resale.

Labour’s Lisa Nandy said in a statement on Sunday (01): “Following the incredible news of Oasis’ return, it is disheartening to see hugely inflated prices robbing ordinary fans of the chance to see their favourite band live.”

“This government is committed to putting fans at the heart of music. That’s why we will include questions about transparency and the use of ‘dynamic pricing’, including the technology that encourages queuing, in our upcoming consultation on consumer protections for ticket resale. Working with artists, the industry and fans, we can create a fairer system that ends the scourge of scalpers, abusive resale and ensures tickets are priced fairly,” she added.

During the ticket sales period, prices rose from £148 (approximately R$920) to £355 (approximately R$2,200) on the official website.
