Oasis: Liam Gallagher has already said he hates “Wonderwall”, the band’s biggest hit

The singer Liam Gallagher who leads the band Oasis alongside his brother Noel, has already publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with “Wonderwall” the main success of the Manchester group in England.

In September 2008, a year before Oasis began its 15-year hiatus, Liam confessed in an interview with MTV UK that he couldn’t stand singing the song anymore. The song is still a huge hit today and was the only one by the British band to reach the 2 billion stream mark on Spotify. The second-placed song on the list, “Don’t Look Back In Anger”, doesn’t even reach half that number and has only 900 million views on the streaming platform.

“I can’t stand this song! Every time I have to sing it, I feel like vomiting . The problem is that it was a big, big song for us,” the singer complained. “You go to America and they say, ‘Are you Mr. Wonderwall?’ It makes you want to smack someone in the jaw.”

The song was the third single from Oasis’ second studio album, 1995’s “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?”. It was with “Wonderwall” that the Gallagher brothers became the only British band to enter the top 10 on Billboard — the main music chart in the United States — since The Smiths, reaching number eight.

Although sung by Liam, the lyrics were written by Noel. Check out some of Oasis’ greatest hits here.

Reconciliation and new tour in 2025

Oasis announced on Tuesday (27) the group’s return after 15 years of separation and intrigue between brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher.

“Oasis today ended years of feverish speculation with the confirmation of a series of eagerly awaited shows in the UK and Ireland, forming the domestic leg of their OASIS LIVE ’25 world tour,” the band posted on their official website.

The group will initially visit Cardiff (Wales), Manchester (England), London (England), Edinburgh (Scotland) and Dublin (Ireland) in 2025, with a total of 14 shows, but said they have “plans in the works” for shows outside Europe.
