Oaxacan model conquers the catwalks of the world; from Prada to Louis Vuitton

Karen Vega is a young woman originally from Oaxaca, Mexico, barely 18 years old, but her young age has not prevented her from achieving her dream of becoming a model and reaping triumphs in the world of fashion.

Karen discovered her vocation at the age of 14, when she was helping her grandfather’s wife in the family sewing workshop. The girl was fitted for clothes that her grandmother made for a local brand and every time she modeled the outfits she felt at home.

As a result of this experience, Karen decided to be a professional model. However, her path to fashion did not come until two years later, when designer Pompi García and photographer Enrique Leyva were working on the Magical Realism project and when they saw her, they selected her as a model.

In an interview for the magazine fashionKaren said that Garcia and Leyva wanted to show more brown and native skin in their projects, so they thought she would be the one to help them.

It seemed to them that I could help them complement the images they had in mind. I felt very moved because I have always liked photos.

Later, the artists opened the Talento Espina modeling agency, and the young woman was one of the first to join it. But her story does not end here, because after being part of this firm, the Mexican brand Barragán invited her to debut as part of her collection at the fall-winter 2020 fashion show in Mexico City.
