Mexican President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador announced this Tuesday (3) the visit of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to Mexico to celebrate the inauguration ceremony of president-elect Claudia Sheinbaum.
According to Lopez Obrador, Lula’s visit will also be an opportunity to say goodbye, without adding any further details.
Obrador, Lula and Colombian President Gustavo Petro have coordinated diplomatic efforts to resolve the Venezuelan crisis that arose from the July 28 election that both the Venezuelan government and its opposition claim to have won.
Lopez Obrador pulled out of the three-party presidential initiative in early August.
The announcement comes less than a month before Lopez Obrador’s term ends and Claudia Sheinbaum, who will be inaugurated on Oct. 1 as Mexico’s first female president, takes her place.
