The assassination of Turkish Cypriot mobster Khalil Faljali is still at the forefront of Turkish Cypriot news. Last night, Turkish Cypriot media reported that two Kalashnikov assault rifles, a 9mm pistol, cartridges and dozens of bullets were found near the scene of the assassination in the occupied Agios Epiktitos.

According to the Cyprus News Agency, the weapons and bullets were found in a stream, located near the place of the murder of Falgiali and the driver of his vehicle.

In a statement, the “police” stated that they were cooperating with the Turkish police and that as part of this cooperation, six people had been arrested in Turkey. A total of four people have been detained in the occupied territories.

The “police” also states that the weapons that were found yesterday were found to have been used in the murder of Falgiali.

Two of Falgiali’s bodyguards were remanded in custody

In the meantime, two bodyguards of the Turkish Cypriot businessman were detained in the occupied territories.

According to information from the Turkish Cypriot press, two close associates and bodyguards of Faljali, Turkestan Gulce and Khalil Isik, appeared before a “court”, facing charges of “illegal possession and use of weapons”.

According to the “police”, during the murder of Falgiali, the two bodyguards “shot in the air with illegal weapons in their possession”. The two men were taken into custody on February 12. They were then interrogated by the “police”.

The “court” decided on the three-day pre-trial detention of the two people.

Arrests continue

The information that the arrests of suspects in the context of the investigations for the murder of Hali Falgiali and his driver continue in the occupied territories, were spread by the Turkish Cypriot media on Monday. Following the pre-trial detention of two Falgiali bodyguards, two more people were detained in the occupied territories. Earlier, Yusuf Gunes and Omer Tudz were detained.

According to the “Cyprus Post”, Weisel Sari and Musa Cisek, suspects who arrived in the occupied areas by boat, were arrested and brought before a “court”.

The suspects were taken into custody in an operation carried out at a residence located in occupied Karavas. A search of the home turned up a pistol and nine bullets hidden in nylon under the bathtub.

In his testimony, Weisel Sari stated that he arrived from Alanya, Turkey, in the occupied territories by boat. In Karavas, he stayed in a house rented by Mustafa Soilemez, who is imprisoned in Turkey and known for his relations with the Turkish underworld.

According to the “police”, the two suspects rented vehicles in the occupied areas with fake driving licenses.

The “court” decided the three-day pre-trial detention of the two people.

Soilemez’s detention for Faljali’s murder has been renewed

Meanwhile, a court in Istanbul renewed the detention of Mustafa Soilemez and the other two suspects arrested for the murder of the businessman. According to Turkish media, the second person is Faisal Soilemez, brother of Mustafa Soilemez. The third person, whose name has not yet been released, also bears the surname Soilemez and is a member of the “Gang of the Soilemez brothers”, according to the same sources.

With the arrest of three other suspects two days ago, the number of suspects in custody in Istanbul reached 6, while the total number of suspects in custody in the occupied areas reached 10.

Turkish media reported that the leader of the “Soilemez Gang”, Mustafa Soilemez, who was found to have spoken to Khalil Falgiali, was the person who fired the last bullet from very close to Falgiali’s head with a Kalashnikov. The same sources report that Mustafa Soilemez and Khalil Falgiali met much earlier through a lawyer from Van. However, there is still no information as to why he killed him and on whose behalf.

According to the Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet, the big question after Faljali’s assassination, both in the occupied territories and in Turkey, is who will be the new baron of fictitious betting in the occupied territories. However, those familiar with the field say that Weisel Sahin and Khalil Falgiali are not barons, but the British Scott William Matersson. According to Jumhuriyet, it is known that the British cooperate with local barons in many countries of the world. It is said that the person who will replace Falgali in the occupied territories can only be with the approval of the latter. Information also says that the fictitious betting licenses in the occupied areas are given by him.
