The General Price Index – 10 (IGP-10) dropped 1.04% in October, after falling 0.90% in September, informed the Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) this Tuesday (18).
The result was within the estimates of financial market analysts consulted by the Broadcast projectionswho expected a drop from 1.25% to 0.20%, with a negative median of 1.02%.
As for the three indicators that make up the October IGP-10, wholesale prices measured by the IPA-10 fell by 1.44%, compared to a fall of 1.18% in September.
Consumer prices verified by the IPC-10 increased by 0.17% in October, after a decline of 0.14% in September.
The INCC-10, which measures construction prices, rose 0.01% in October, after falling 0.02% in September.
The IGP-10 accumulated an increase of 6.33% in the year. The 12-month rate was 7.44%. The price collection period for the October indicator was from the 11th of September to the 10th of this month.
The rises in the prices of air tickets (17.70%), residential rent (1.38%) and health insurance (1.15%) led the ranking of pressures on consumer inflation measured by the October IGP-10.
Five of the eight classes of expenses of the IPC-10 registered higher rates of change: Transport (from -2.97% in September to -2.17% in October), Housing (from 0.08% to 0.64%) , Food (from -0.24% to 0.11%), Communication (from -0.88% to -0.61%) and Miscellaneous Expenses (from 0.15% to 0.19%).
The main contributions came from the items: gasoline (from -9.66% to -7.09%), residential electricity tariff (from -1.54% to -0.24%), vegetables (from -4, 83% to 4.05%), residential telephone tariff (from -3.45% to 2.77%) and pet food (from -0.62% to 1.04%).
In the opposite direction, rates were lower in Education, Reading and Recreation (from 4.00% to 3.36%), Health and Personal Care (from 0.83% to 0.69%) and Apparel (from 0. .68% to 0.37%).
There was an influence of the items: airfare (from 25.14% to 17.70%), toiletries and personal care (from 1.65% to 0.88%) and clothes (from 0.80% to 0.26 %).
wholesale deflation
The decline in milk and fuel prices led to wholesale deflation that is part of the October IGP-10, informed the Fundação Getulio Vargas.
The ranking of biggest negative influences in the wholesale was led by in natura milk (-7.21%), followed by diesel oil (-4.22%), fertilizers (-8.94%), automotive gasoline (-5 .90%) and cattle (-3.15%).
“Milk and fuel were the main highlights for producer and consumer inflation. In the IPA (Broad Producer Price Index), the biggest contributions to the fall in the index were in natura milk (-7.21%) and diesel oil (-4.22%)”, says André Braz, coordinator of the Prices from the Brazilian Institute of Economics at FGV (Ibre/FGV), in an official note.
In the Consumer Price Index (IPC), the decrease registered in gasoline (-7.09%) and long-life milk (-11.36%) partially contained the pace of acceleration of the indicator, “which, under the influence of the The services sector, mainly air tickets (+17.70%) and residential rentals (+1.38%), is accelerating again”, adds Braz.
The Broad Producer Price Index (IPA-10) went from a fall of 1.18% in September to a decline of 1.44% in October.
In the analysis by stages of processing, the prices of Final Goods went from -0.52% in September to -0.30% in October, with the main contribution of the in natura food subgroup, whose rate went from 1.16% to 6 .16%.
The Intermediate Goods group went from -1.72% in September to -2.14% this month, driven by the subgroup materials and components for manufacturing, whose rate went from -0.36% to -1.70%.
The Gross Raw Materials group intensified the fall from -1.17% last month to -1.69% in October, under the influence of the following items: in natura milk (from -0.18% to -7.21%), cottonseed (from 4.32% to -7.32%) and coffee beans (from 0.89% to -2.33%).
There was a deceleration in the pace of decline in iron ore (from -4.48% to -0.52%), soybeans in grain (from -1.44% to -0.86%) and beef (-4.10% to -3.15%).
Construction
The rise in the cost of labor prevented a deflation in construction within the IGP-10. The National Construction Cost Index (INCC-10) went from a decrease of 0.02% in September to an increase of 0.01% in October.
The Index that represents the cost of Materials, Equipment and Services went from a reduction of 0.19% in September to a decrease of 0.22% in October.
Spending on Materials and Equipment fell by 0.32% in October, while Services costs rose by 0.27% in the month.
The index that represents the cost of Labor went from an increase of 0.17% in September to an increase of 0.25% in October.
