The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) raised its projection for growth in Brazil’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) this year to 2.8%, according to a report released this Tuesday (22).
In September, the organization revised its projections to 2.5%, from the previous June forecast of 0.6%.
For 2023, the forecast was raised from 0.8% to 1.2% and, for 2024, it was 1.4%.
In the same document, the OECD predicts that the global economy is expected to grow “well below pre-war expected results” – by a modest 3.1% this year, before slowing to 2.2% in 2023 and recovering moderately to a moderate pace. still below the average of 2.7% in 2024.
“Growth in 2023 depends heavily on the major economies of Asian emerging markets, which will account for nearly three-quarters of global GDP growth next year, with the United States and Europe slowing sharply,” says the document.
