A plainclothes military police officer was killed on Tuesday night (17), when reacting to an attempted robbery in Jabaquara, south of Rio de Janeiro. São Paulo . Hiago Mariano Nogueira Gobi, 24, was walking with friends when he was approached.
According to information from Public Security Secretariat (SSP) , the police officer was accompanied by two colleagues when they were surprised by an armed man, who was on a motorcycle. Afterwards, another accomplice appeared on another motorcycle.
The soldier, who was part of the 3rd Battalion of Military police Metropolitan and was off duty at the time of the incident, he reacted by shooting at the criminals, but was also shot.
Hiago was rescued and taken to Dr. Arthur Ribeiro de Saboya Municipal Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries. One of the robbers hit by the shots died at the scene. The accomplice is on the run.

The case was registered as robbery, resistance, death resulting from police intervention and attempted robbery at the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP). Expert examinations were requested at the scene of the incident and on the weapons, as well as examinations at the Legal Medical Institute (IML).
The São Paulo State Police Ombudsman’s Office, in a statement to CNN expressed deep regret over the soldier’s death and expressed concern regarding the working conditions, salaries and mental health of public security professionals in the State of São Paulo.
