Official visit of M. Varvitsiotis to the USA

The Deputy Foreign Minister in charge of European Affairs, Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, will pay an official visit to the United States of America on March 14-18, 2022.

In particular, on Monday, March 14, Mr. Varvitsiotis will meet with Karen Donfried, US Undersecretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.

Later in the day, he will address the official dinner of the 3rd Conference on Southeastern Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Western Balkans, organized by the Delphi Economic Forum and the Hellenic-American Leadership Council. entitled “The Eastern Mediterranean 3 + 1 Alliance: A View of National Parliaments” with the participation, among others, of the Chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Robert Menendez.

On Tuesday, 15 March 2022, the Deputy Foreign Minister will take part in the Conference as a speaker on “Geopolitics in the Mediterranean and Security in Europe”.

Earlier in the morning, he will attend a working breakfast, organized by the think tank Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) on “The Future of US-Europe Defense Cooperation”, with representatives of the State Department and the US Department of Defense , as well as executives of renowned think tanks and companies.

On the same day, he will meet with Molly Montgomery, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.

During his visit to Washington, Mr. Varvitsiotis will also have bilateral meetings with Senators, members of the House of Representatives and representatives of Greek-American and expatriate associations.

The Deputy Foreign Minister will then travel to New York, where he will have meetings with UN officials (16-18 / 3). In particular, Mr. Varvitsiotis will meet with the President of the UN General Assembly Mr. Abdulla Sahid, the President of the UN Security Council Mrs. Lana Nusseibeh, as well as the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations for Political Affairs, Mrs. Rosemary DiCarlo.
