Today, August 31, the Ministry of Education of Russia officially banned schoolchildren from using mobile phones (and, of course, smartphones) in the learning process on the territory of the country’s educational institutions. It is worth recalling that just yesterday, August 30, Vladimir Medinsky, aide to the President of Russia and chairman of the Russian Military Historical Society, proposed considering the idea of banning students from using smartphones in schools.
“Let’s put these smartphones away in the classroom – in some lockers. The student went to school, left the smartphone, the parents are calm, ”said Medinsky.
He also added that today the widespread use of smartphones distracts children and the younger generation from the educational process – the lesson turns into an unpleasant distraction from an interesting game on a smartphone. True, Medinsky himself noted that not all schools would be able to come up with this initiative, and suggested conducting an experiment in Moscow. Now, apparently, the ban will not be limited to the capital alone.
The new rules come into force on September 1, 2022.
