Oh no! ‘Harry Potter’ fans urged not to put socks on Dobby’s grave

Fan of Harry Potter who respects himself knows perfectly well who Dobby is or was. But if you, dear readers, do not remember it at this precise moment, here we tell you who she was and why her name became a sensation again.

Dobby, the house elf of the Malfoy family, made his first appearance in the second film of the saga, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. This cute character tried to take care of Harry from Lucius Malfoy’s evil plans, but in his attempts he only hindered some things. In that same movie he is freed from his master because Harry takes off a sock and gives it to him.

It was in the first part of the deathly hallows that this elf returned to the screens and did it to help Harry and his friends in the mission to find horcruxes to finish off Voldemort. However, in the middle of a fight he is wounded and dies on a beach, “such a nice place to be with friends”, which is how he describes it before dying in Potter’s arms.

This beach corresponds to the name of Freshwater West and is located in Wales, where many potterheads They built a monument to the endearing character, wearing socks and painted rocks, among other objects, to honor him.

However, far from being happy about how touristy this site has become, the authorities have expressed concern about its conservation, for after an eight-month review, the conservation charity National Trust of Wales asked the fans of the series to stop paying tribute to Dobby with socks and other things.

In addition, they stressed that the ideal is to only take photographs when they go to the monument, since they have the purpose of protecting the ecosystem that resides in that space, since the objects could endanger both the beach and marine species.

Items such as socks, trinkets, and paint chips from the rocks could enter the marine environment, the food chain, and put wildlife at risk. While we are delighted that so many want to visit, we have to balance the popularity of the location with the impact on the sensitive nature of the beach and the wider environment, as well as the pressure on the surrounding roads and facilities.

So if one day we can go to visit the monument to Dobby we can only take a good picture of the memory.
