Oi informed this Monday (21) that it has made the date for payment of invoices due between February 14 and March 7 for customers who live in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro, flexible for ten days.
Flexibility took place after the tragedy that has killed 178 people and left another 126 missing so far, due to heavy rains that caused landslides in the historic mountain town.
The company said it will maintain the service even after the bill expires, in case customers are unable to pay due to the damage caused by the storms.
The company is also offering a free 5 GB package for prepaid or control customers, in addition to guaranteeing postpaid customers’ internet maintenance even after the franchise has been fully consumed.
“The initiatives aim to ensure customer communication and allow access to security information, hospitals and shelters, in addition to other public services available to serve the population,” Oi said in a statement.
Since the city was hit by the storms, Oi has mobilized emergency teams from the region and elsewhere to work on restoring affected services.
“Due to the teams’ conditions of access to various parts of the city that were destroyed, some customers may face communication difficulties. Oi’s teams remain on standby for immediate assistance, within the safety conditions allowed for their technicians to work,” said the company.
