Germany is preparing for a possible halt to gas exports from Russia, as one can only speculate on what the Kremlin will decide to do, German Chancellor Olaf Soltz said on Thursday from Tokyo, where he is on an official visit.
“Everyone has to prepare for this and, as I said, we have started before the war breaks out and we know what we have to do,” the German chancellor told a joint news conference with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio. Kisinda.
Referring to the sanctions against Russia, the chancellor said that they are very effective and Russia has already begun to realize that they are causing great damage to its development potential.
“Sanctions will be used to end the war and withdraw Russian troops so that Ukraine can regain its sovereignty,” Olaf Solz said, adding that Western sanctions would not end if Russia offers a ceasefire due to territorial gains, except with the complete withdrawal of its troops from Ukraine.
