“It is more plausible that Joe Biden will be re-elected”

THE German social democratic chancellor Olaf Solz said yesterday Friday (18/8) that he considers it unlikely that the former president of USA, Donald Trumpto be re-elected to office.

He said that he thinks “it is more reasonable for the president to be re-elected [Τζο] Biden,” during an event organized by the Augsburger Allgemeine newspaper.

He refrained from becoming a specific respondent as to whether and to what extent, nevertheless, German government prepares for possible election victory of Mr. Trump and its potential implications for international political issues.

“You can imagine how we carefully study the scenarios in all international situations”he limited himself to saying.

Mr. Scholtz praised Mr. Biden’s “incredible experience” in international politics and his “good judgment,” in addition to the advice he receives from his team.

He also judged that the current US president has greater potential to deal with the division in American society. “If anyone has a chance to overcome” the divide, “it’s Democratic President Biden”he estimated.

Republican former President Trump (2017-2021) is already campaigning for the next presidential election in November 2024. He currently has a huge lead in the GOP caucus. However, in addition to his faction rivals, he is also facing four criminal charges.
