The part of an old mansion collapsed on the afternoon of Thursday (8), in the neighborhood of Nazareth, Salvador. According to information from the Civil Defense (Codesal), the property is unoccupied, sealed and no one was injured.
The agency also said that the partial collapse was at the top in a structure called Platiband. The rubble fell and stayed on the sidewalk of the property. The area was isolated and the cleaning of the space requested from the Salvador Urban Cleaning Company (Limpurb).
According to history of surveys, previously made by Codesal, the owner was notified in September 2023 to perform the recovery of the space. The building was without the coverage, which further aggravates the degradation of the property.
In February this year, Codesal reported that about 400 historical properties had a high risk of collapse or fire in the Bahian capital.
The occurrence was also sent to the Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN) and the City Municipal Secretariat of Maintenance (Seman), for necessary knowledge and interventions.
