«Old»: the trailer for the new film by M. Night Shyamalan on aging gives the chills

The love of M. Night Shyamalan, the director and screenwriter of films such as The sixth sense, The Village e Glass, per Sandcastle, the graphic novel created by the pen of Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters, was born on Father’s Day, when he received it as a gift. Since then, the story has crept into his head so deeply that it has prompted him to buy the rights to make a film, Old, arriving at the cinema on July 21. The protagonists are 13 people who find themselves on a mysterious beach found on the Internet to spend the holidays.

Something, however, is wrong. In a short time, everyone realizes that something unnatural reigns on the island that causes any form of life to age quickly.

Old decides to face one of humanity’s greatest fears, aging, distorting it to an extreme, with children becoming adolescents within hours and parents seeing furrows and wrinkles appear on their faces that bring them closer to old age in no time at all. The film, which is described as a “Existentialist horror”, it tells, in addition to the inexorability of time, also the attempts of the characters to leave the island as quickly as possible to escape the destiny of aging, dying and decaying so quickly that they do not realize it.

Old, which sees as protagonists Gael Garcia Bernal, already star of Mozart in the Jungle, Vicky Krieps, the beautiful protagonist of The hidden thread, Alex Wolff, Thomasin McKenzie, Eliza Scanlen, Rufus Sewell, Embeth Davidtz, Aaron Pierre, Abbey Lee, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Emun Elliott and Ken Leung, is produced by Shyamalan himself – that for Universal Pictures he will sign another top secret film that will be released on February 17, 2023 – and Ashwin Rajan of Blinding Edge Pictures along with Marc Bienstock and Steven Schneider.
