The Venezuelan Juan Vicente Mora, declared the oldest person in the world by Guinness World Records last week, will turn 113 next Friday (27).
Mora, who enjoys good health and a glass of strong brandy liqueur every day, has 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, Guinness reported in a press release.
In addition to slightly high blood pressure and hearing problems due to age, Mora is in very good health and is not taking medication, says Henrique Bujan, a doctor at a clinic in San José de Bolívar, in the Venezuelan state of Táchira.
“He is in very good health for his age, has a good heart, changes due to age, but does not require intervention or long-term treatment. I think that with his activity, his hygiene and his diet, I think he will live longer”, evaluates the doctor Bujan.
“I always say that grandpa doesn’t age, I see fewer and fewer wrinkles. For as long as I can remember, my internal image has been of him calm, relaxed, and praying for everything, all day long. I never see him upset, he’s always in a good mood,” said Orleida Domado, Mora’s granddaughter.
Mora became the oldest person in the world after Saturnino de la Fuente Garcia, born February 11, 1909 in Spain, died in January aged 112 years and 341 days.
