The Port of Elefsina Organization (OLE) SA, guided by the utilization of all its points of responsibility and with dedication to the protection of the environment, proceeded to a Study of the Functional Organization of the Bay of Vlycha, awaiting the completion of its new master plan Port of Elefsina, which will indicate the final use and utilization of the wider area.
The Functional Organization of the Bay of Vlycha is going to strengthen the port activities, but mainly to rehabilitate an isolated and degraded coastal zone of Elefsina from pathogens of the past.
Vlycha gives the image of abandonment due to the accumulation of old and abandoned ships, which were destined for dismantling in the dump that used to operate in the area. The site was also repeatedly the site of illegal dumping.
Recently, O.L.E. SA systematically carries out cleaning actions in the area, while it has requested the assistance of the Central Port Authority of Elefsina to increase policing measures in order to ensure compliance with legality and safety, to avoid accidents, damage and other violations.
According to what is provided in the preliminary Study of O.L.E. SA, the land port area at the location “Vlycha” will be configured appropriately with technical interventions (improvement of lighting, checkpoint, wheelbarrow, etc.) in order to organize and operate more fully the area where port works are carried out. essentially in the environmental upgrade of the wider region of West Attica.
Today in the Bay of Vlycha are served cargo ships of inland waterways, transporting bulk cargo of predominantly inert materials.
