The founder of Tinkoff Bank, Oleg Tinkov, said that he stands for progress, but does not fully understand why cryptocurrencies are needed. He stated this during a discussion at the Clubhouse, writes Forbes.
“This is a very cool thing, as we know, I guess. But what does a person lack if he goes to the crypt? It seems to me that this is about people who want to hide something from someone. At the same time, there is no point in going against progress, young people want it, ”he said.
Tinkov sees no reason to pay much attention to cryptocurrencies, since, according to him, they are prohibited in the Russian Federation:
“It is prohibited in Russia, it is not on the agenda. And I don’t see that this will be resolved in the short term. In the West, yes – Coinbase has planned an IPO, in the world it is in demand. Although, in my opinion, it is not very clear why a person needs Bitcoin and why it is impossible to pay in euros. ”
This is not the first time the founder of Tinkoff Bank has spoken out about cryptocurrencies in a similar vein.
Earlier, he said that he does not understand exactly what problems cryptocurrencies are trying to solve, since fraudsters are mainly concerned about anonymity, and the processing speed of banks’ transactions is quite satisfactory.
