“Olhar Indiscreto”: psychological thriller about the female gaze arrives at Netflix; know more

To start 2023 with a lot of emotion, the psychological thriller “Indiscreet Eye” arrived this Sunday (1st) on Netflix. The Brazilian miniseries stars Débora Nascimento and Emanuelle Araújo.

The plot accompanies Miranda, a hacker who has fun spying on the neighbor across the street, Cléo, who is a luxury prostitute.

When the neighbor asks her to take care of the dog and the apartment during a trip, her destiny changes forever and she becomes part of a world previously only observed.

What Miranda doesn’t know is that this is all part of a grand plan.

THE CNN participated in a conversation with the protagonists and the general director of the series, who told a little more about the production.

Débora Nascimento who plays Miranda, lives a mysterious hacker whose life is gradually revealed through flashbacks throughout the episodes.

Accompanied by a mystery of its own, the viewer sees it emerge by observing his neighbor.

For the actress, the neighbor represents “everything she wanted to be but didn’t have the courage”. “I think Miranda is very curious and Cléo’s move to the apartment across the street was her greatest gift. She got to know herself through observing the other”, she said.

Emanuelle Araújo, who brings Cleo to life, said that Cleo is one of the most interesting characters she has ever played in her career.

“She has a freedom of the body, of the feminine. It is a freedom that comes from within. She is a woman absolutely well resolved with her sexuality.”

Thriller and sensuality

The series is full of mysteries – murders, family issues, disappearance, double life – and has spicy scenes, immersed in the universe of BDSM.

“We have the sensuality present, as temperature of the series, and a story is very good. So the steamy scenes are part of the context. What I like the most is that they are completely coherent with the BDSM universe”, said Emanuelle.

“It’s a psychological thriller that has a sensuality to it. They are complex women who go through a series of things. It has family drama, it has deep problems. People will think: ‘My God, things keep happening’”, commented Débora.

Despite the sensual part being one of the nuances of the series, Luciana Oliveira, general director, believes that the thriller is the strong point of the production.

“What caught my attention the most in the script was the thriller. Suspense is what holds people back the most. He makes you want to watch one episode after another. Once we started watching the episodes, we couldn’t stop. Those who may think at first that it’s just a sensual and spicy question will see that it’s much more than that.”

female team

At three, Débora Nascimento , Emanuelle Araújo and Luciana Oliveira point out that the great differential of the series is having a female team telling a story about female desire, making them much more aware of what they wanted to go through.

“It doesn’t have a masculine look, with a look addicted to pornography. Unlike most productions, it has a feminine look of desire. They are subtle nuances, but strong”, pointed out Débora.

“We have a habit of sensualizing within the dramaturgical universe and in cinema. When we go for this sensuality with a feminine look, it is still sexy and spicy, but it gives a sensitivity and naturalness”, said Emanuelle.

They revealed that the series had an intimacy coordinator.

“The work of the intimacy coordinator is super detailed. It starts from where to touch – on the shoulder, on the hand, on the neck – until we start to arrive at a decoupage that I thought of the scene”, explained Luciana.

“In addition, there is also the emotional and psychological care, of her feeling in an exchange of glances whether you are comfortable or not, regardless of gender”, added Débora.
