Olivia Rodrigo is the favorite to win the main categories of the Grammys

Nobody knows who will win the Grammy on Sunday (3), in Las Vegas. Among the nominees are from the teenage sensation Olivia Rodrigo to the singer Tony Bennett95 years old, and the rapper Kanye West.

Olivia, 19, is up for the top four categories – album, song and record of the year and best new artist – in what is the music industry’s top honor. Only two musicians in Grammy history have won all four categories on the same night.

Experts say Olivia Rodrigo is a favorite to win new artist after her song “drivers license” took off in January 2021, making the viral hit a strong contender in the disco and music categories.

“Everyone thinks Olivia Rodrigo is going to take a significant number of awards,” said Variety deputy music editor Jem Aswad. “She’s almost a no-brainer for best new artist.”

Album of the year is tougher, say Grammy watchers. Olivia Rodrigo’s “Sour” is competing with West’s “Donda”, Jon Batiste’s “We Are” and Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’s “Love for Sale”.

Justin Bieber’s “Justice” is also up for grabs, along with Doja Cat’s “Planet Her,” Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever,” HER’s “Back of My Mind,” Lil Nas X’s “Montero” and “Evermore.” by Taylor Swift.

This year’s Grammys were postponed from January to April because of a Covid-19 outbreak earlier in the year. The change of dates forced a change of venue from Los Angeles to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The awards will be broadcast live on the CBS network and the Paramount+ streaming service.
