“We expect you to respect the rules, but if you do not, you could be sanctioned,” said Pierre Dickre, the Games’ director of operations at the International Olympic Committee.
Possible sanctions start with a warning or a fine and go as far as a temporary or final expulsion from the Games, without specifying which offenses each penalty corresponds to. The ILO and the organizers will set up a special disciplinary committee, tasked with examining any possible setbacks and deciding on appropriate punishment.
