Omicron – Albert Burla Mutation: You may need a fourth dose sooner

A fourth dose of coronavirus vaccine may be needed earlier than expected because of Omicron mutation, says the CEO of Pfizer, Albert Burla.

Pfizer CEO explained that the data so far show that the new variant of coronavirus may “escape” the protection provided by the antibodies, after being vaccinated with the drug developed by the company together with BioNTech.

Speaking to CNBC, Albert Burla said he was waiting for more scientific data from clinical trials to see if additional doses would be needed. vaccine and for how long.

“When we look at the data, we will determine if Omicron is covered by the third dose and for how long. “And I think we will need a fourth installment,” said Burla.

Pfizer: The third dose reduces the risk of death by 90% compared to the first two

A major new Israeli scientific study is coming to light, according to which the boosting doses of Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine reduce by 90% the risk of death from coronavirus caused by Delta mutation, compared to those who have taken two doses. It is recalled that, despite the noise about Omicron mutation, Delta is still dominant and is the one that kills many people (in Greece as well).

Scientists consider increased protection of the third dose vital in the next one to two months, when Delta is expected to continue to dominate. Some scientists estimate that Omicron will eventually prevail over Delta, as the latter had done with previous variants of the virus, but this remains to be confirmed. until then most serious accidents and deaths will be caused by Delta.
