Ômicron variant

The Adolfo Lutz Institute (IAL) confirmed the detection of the new Ômicron variant in a Brazilian couple on Tuesday (30). The man arrived at São Paulo international airport, in Guarulhos, four days before the suspension of flights from six African countries to Brazil. According to the anchor of CNN Kenzô Machida, the couple is in isolation at home with mild symptoms of the disease and has no history of vaccination. A third case, of a passenger coming from Ethiopia, is under investigation.

The Senate Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) held this Wednesday the hearing of former Justice and Public Security Minister André Mendonça, who is running for a seat on the Federal Supreme Court (STF). Mendonça was appointed by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) five months ago to replace Marco Aurélio Mello, who retired in July. The popular jury of four defendants begins today in the nightclub Kiss tragedy, in Santa Maria (RS), which left 242 dead in January 2013. The trial is expected to last 14 days and could become the longest in the history of Rio Grande do Sul. The two partners who ran the club, in addition to one of the members and the producer of the band Gurizada Fandangueira are facing charges of simple murder with eventual intent and attempted murder.

Social rate

Low-income families enrolled in government social programs will have automatic reductions in their electricity bills. More than 11.5 million families are eligible to receive the benefit that can deduct up to 65% of the monthly bill.
