The number of confirmed cases Omicron variant of coronavirus was launched in 183 today at Denmark, announced the health authorities of the country, describing this development as “worrying”.
In the last count on Friday, Denmark counted 18 confirmed cases and 42 suspected cases, according to data from the SSI public institute, which means that the number of cases has at least tripled in 48 hours.
Prior to the announcement, the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention (ECDC) counted 182 cases across the European Union, including Norway and Iceland.
“We are seeing a worrying increase in the number of Omicron infections in Denmark,” SSI Director Henrik Ulum said in a press release.
“There are transmission chains where the variation is found in people who did not travel or come in contact with travelers,” he said.
The institute is working “intensively” to speed up the release of laboratory test results, so that health services can locate the transmission chains “as quickly as possible”, the health official added.
“The time we save, we have to use it to vaccinate as many people as possible. “A significant immunity gives greater resilience to our society if the Omicron infection continues.”
