Omicron Mutation – Denmark: Over 1,000 cases in 24 hours

THE Denmark exceeded today, for the first time, its 1,000 cases Omicron mutation of coronavirus within a day and the authorities estimate that this strain will prevail in Copenhagen within the week.

The country, which is a pioneer in terms of test number and genome sequences for locating variants, recorded a total 4.535 Omicron cases, of which 1.098 in the last 24 hours, according to the report of the Infectious Disease Control Service (SSI).

The spread of the new variant is spectacular, just two weeks after the first case was detected in Denmark, on November 28, observes the French News Agency.

The number of cases doubles each two with three days, according to official data, is relayed by ΑΠΕ ΜΠΕ. Most (approximately 2,700) were located in Copenhagen and its surroundings.

It is also pointed out that SSI estimated yesterday, Monday, that Omicron will replace Delta and will become the sovereign mutation in the country.

It is recalled that the new strain of the virus seems to spread much faster than in the Delta, to cause less severe symptoms but also to make the vaccines less effective, according to the first estimates of the WHO. In fact, the head of the Organization stated today that Omicron is probably already in all countries.
