Two cases of the Omicron mutation associated with travel to South African countries were located in Great Britain, the same is true for Germany, while a case was detected in Italy and one in the Czech Republic.

Alongside, 61 cases of coronavirus are being monitored in the Netherlands, as among them it is probable that there are also cases related to the new variant.

An alarm signaled to the Greek health authorities due to the new Omicron mutation, which “headaches” the experts.

They have already entered into force new measures decided by the government regarding the flights coming from the dreaded African countries.

It is worth noting that the first Greeks were placed in a precautionary quarantine.

According to his information Newsbeast These are five Greek citizens who have been quarantined, as they arrived in our country from countries in South Africa.

Specifically, the three came from South Africa and the other two from Zimbabwe, while their flight arrived today in Athens via Dubai.

These Greek citizens are in quarantine in a hotel in Paraliaki and have no coronavirus symptoms.

They are not cases, however the 10-day quarantine defined by the new instructions applies.

“Africa is being punished”

On all continents, one country after another imposes travel bans on South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique and, in some cases, Malawi.

The South African government considers that it is “punished” because it identified the variant and estimated that “scientific excellence should be welcomed, not punished”.
